We all want bathing to be a glorious luxurious experience. So when it comes to designing a luxury bathroom a stylish bath is going to always be a focal point. Choosing the right bath is important. Consider it an investment in your health and well-being.

Choosing a shape

  • Rectangular baths - fit tightly into an alcove and make best use of space in a small bathroom. A practical choice.
  • A double ended bath – with gracefully sloping ends, ideal for two people making bathing into more of an experience. Ideal for romantics.
  • A slipper bath - sloped at one end giving the user a perfect position for reading. Often free standing. A relaxing choice.
  • Bateau bath – free standing bateau baths are deep and have a more contemporary finish. Fabulous for a proper soak.

Positioning your bath

If you are re-styling your bathroom, don’t simply put the bath back where it was.  Take the time to think about your options.
  • A fitted bath makes best use of space – but what is the view like? A free standing bath might let you have a view out of a window rather than staring at the toilet.
  • Don’t be put off by plumbing. A competent plumber can move the waste and water easily. Once fitted they can be covered with shrouds, so you are not staring at ugly pipes.

The logistics of buying a bath

  • Delivery of your bath will be to your doorstep. Get a timed delivery and make sure you have three or four strong friends on hand to help you move it upstairs.
  • Most bathrooms are upstairs. Take care when choosing a bath that it will actually go up your staircase and through your bathroom door.
  • As the largest item in your bathroom, the bath tub is often fitted last. Make sure that you take careful note of the plumbing and install waste and water pipes appropriately.
  • Fit flooring before a free standing bath, but after a fitted bath.
